The Peer Support Team Lead will oversee, coach, and coordinate the activities of the peer support team within Te Whare Ahuru (the acute psychiatric unit at Hutt Hospital). This role involves providing leadership, support, and guidance to peer support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-led care.
You will champion peer-led approaches, uphold cultural safety, and foster environments where Tāngata Whai Ora feel heard, respected, and supported. This role is about leadership through connection, integrity, and advocacy. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams, educate staff about peer support, and ensure peer values are embedded in everyday practice.
As Team Lead, you will mentor and coach peer support workers to thrive in their roles, build strong relationships across hospital teams to integrate peer support into care pathways, contribute to systemic change by modelling non-discriminatory, person-led practice, and support the development of culturally safe, inclusive spaces for Tāngata Whai Ora and whānau.
