Pou Arataki – A Senior Teacher Bilingual Immersion Classes

Resource : kura tuatahi, Mātauranga Māori.

Te Ahurutanga currently has 4 classes : 0‑3 and 4‑6. Most children arrive with little Te Reo and progress to reasonable full Te Reo over the year.

This position is a Pou Arataki role in a whānau‑based team of four teachers. Two Pou Arataki teachers share equal responsibility for delivering bilingual immersion instruction across the 0‑3 and 4‑6 classes.

Responsibilities

• Teach and support learning in 0‑3 and 4‑6 classes to develop students’ Te Reo literacy and bilingual proficiency.
• Collaborate with the other Pou Arataki and the wider team to plan, deliver and assess curriculum aligned with Māori and New Zealand standards.
• Create a culturally responsive learning environment that values tikanga Māori and promotes Te Reo usage.
