Macleans College, a distinguished co-educational secondary school, is seeking an experienced and dedicated guidance counsellor to join our supportive pastoral care team. We are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience that fosters the academic, personal, and social development of our growing roll of over 2950 students.
The guidance counsellor will play a pivotal role in supporting students from many different nationalities and cultures as they navigate academic, personal, and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will provide individual and group counselling services and work collaboratively with the pastoral team, which includes house leaders and senior leadership, to ensure a positive and supportive environment for student wellbeing. Additionally, the counsellor will be responsible for responding to crises, liaising with external agencies, and advocating for the mental health and emotional well-being of students.
The applicant can have NZ teacher registration and / or we may consider qualified counsellors. The salary and conditions for this position are based on the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for registered and trained teachers will vary depending on their qualifications and experience. For non-teacher trained counsellors our conditions of appointment will be based on the Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) scale.
