Head of M&A and Corporate Strategy

Reporting to our CFO and based in Auckland, we are seeking an experienced professional to act as a key partner across our business, responsible for the end-to-end execution of M&A initiatives and strategic planning. This position is vital to our continued growth and market leadership.

Here is what you can expect from this role :

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

• Maintain a continuous scan of international trends, proactively hunt for potential partners and M&A targets that align with Trade Me's strategy
• Establish and maintain a strong presence within the Australian and NZ tech start-up scenes and build relationships with investment banks to track innovative businesses and opportunities
• Screen potential targets, conduct accurate valuations using multiple methodologies, and leverage commercial acumen to assess partner strength
• Lead the end-to-end acquisition or divestment process. This includes recommending deal structures, project managing due diligence and negotiating terms in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and external advisors
• Proactively communicate the status and pipeline of potential targets, and write compelling investment cases for the Exec and Board

What you will bring to our team :

We're looking for a seasoned professional who blends deep commercial and financial expertise with strong leadership and communication. You'll possess strong financial modelling skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and a proven track record in complex M&A execution. Some travel is required, primarily within New Zealand and occasionally to Australia.
