Permanent Youth Worker Te Whiki and Te Awe Community Homes
We are looking to fill 2 x Full time permanent positions based at Te Awe in Lower Hutt and Te Whiki based in Upper Hutt.

Our Residential Youth Workers have an important role to play. They provide care and support to the young people in our care and encourage and motivate them to make positive choices. This is a real opportunity to positively influence young people, help them grow and successfully transition back into the community.
The operating model for our community based homes is a journey for tamariki and what they will feel, think and experience in each part of their engagement with the whare, taking a te ao Māori approach. This is not a 9 to 5 job; our young people require wrap around support from us which is why our Residential Youth Workers do rostered shifts as the facility provides 24-hours, 7-day per week coverage (including weekends and public holidays).

Our Residential Youth Workers have an important role to play. They provide care and support to the young people in our care and encourage and motivate them to make positive choices. This is a opportunity to positively influence young people by working alongside tamariki and rangatahi. Typical duties of the role could include : coaching rangatahi through our structured programmes, participating in activities with our young people through playing sports or taking part in gym activities as well as supporting our rangatahi with their studies, teaching them life skills like cooking, art and music.

Oranga Tamariki offer a remuneration package that starts between approximately $69,312 and $78,400 (depending on your experience) which includes allowances for working shifts. Oranga Tamariki has a remuneration framework gives pay increases based on tenure.
