The Animal Technician timely and accurately tests animal health products in a variety of laboratory and animal species.

Tasks may include laboratory and animal maintenance functions such as reagent and sample preparation, implementing and interpreting of animal tests, health observation and treatment, carrying out minor surgery, documentation and record keeping, animal feeding and general husbandry, and other general duties that underpin the operation of the department.

The nature of the work requires some duties to be performed outside normal work hours and the incumbent will be required to participate in weekend and holiday rosters to support the facility.

The Animal Technician reports to the Animal Services Manager.
