Barbering Tutor

There is a growing demand for trained Barbersand to meet this demand WelTec offers training for people to become qualified CommercialBarbers as well as training for apprentices working in industry.

Academic quality is the cornerstone ofour School and as such we are seeking to appoint a Barber with excellentinterpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation who wants todevelop themselves as an academic educator and pass on their Barbering skillsto our fulltime students and trainees from Industry.

• Course delivery, assessment and moderation
• Management of resources relating to thelearning processes
• Regular progress reporting
• Working as a member of an academic team

You will be supported in this by anexperienced team of educators.

The role is based at our brand-newBarber Salon in Petone, running from January to mid-December 2026. This is afull-time programme, featuring three days of on-site delivery complemented byself-directed learning. Our live salon, open to the public, provides ākongawith valuable opportunities to develop and refine their barbering skills. Theschedule includes one late evening each week, with operations extending until7 : 30 pm.

Experience and Qualifications

You will have at least 5 years’experience in Barbering and a New Zealand Certificate in Barbering, Level 4 orequivalent. Have established contacts within the profession, demonstratedplanning and organisational ability and an ability to relate to youth.While preference will be given to applicants holding a tertiary teachingqualification, applications from experienced Barbers with the desire toundertake study towards a teaching qualification will be considered.
