Your impact

Jacobs APAC Transmission and Distribution team is seeking an experienced Principal Substations Engineer in New Zealand. Our Substation services support a wide range of clients, including utilities, independent power producers, industrial facilities, and government entities, helping them navigate the complexities of modern power systems and drive the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure.

The Principal Substation Engineer opening offers an exciting opportunity to support our technical future and deliver innovative Substation solutions providing superior value to our clients. You'll leverage your Substation expertise to influence and guide various business activities, from strategy and growth to recruitment. You'll be empowered to introduce innovations and new working methods to enhance project delivery and support our clients.

Here's what you'll need

• Develop innovative, robust technical solutions for MV / HV Substation projects (22kV to 220kV).
• Provide technical leadership in sales processes, including proposals and bids.
• Advance our regional reputation in Medium and High Voltage Substation Design (specialising in one of the following Primary, Secondary or Protection).
• Ensure quality of technical outputs through hands on design, including high level design review and technical leadership.
• Collaborate with management on a range of areas including business development, diversity, belonging, succession planning, and mentoring initiatives.
