Senior Staff Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our team in Auckland. In addition to building reliable systems and easy-to-use interfaces with clean, well-tested code, you will also collaborate closely with peers in technical discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions, helping to elevate our engineering culture and set a high bar for quality and scalability.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring strong technical knowledge, a quick ability to learn new technologies, and sharp problem‑solving skills. You’ll be an excellent communicator who works well with stakeholders, collaborates effectively across teams, and supports others through mentorship.

What you’ll be doing :

• 30% - Building stuff : This means coding, code reviews, fixing bugs (i.e. tackling the hard debugging), peer programming, incident response, and reverse‑engineering tasks, etc.
• 30% - Planning / architecture : This means estimating, collaborating with products, establishing MVP
• 30% - Learning and teaching : This means things like chapter reviews, research and meetups, coaching and mentoring developers to “level up” and become more proficient over time
• 10% - Enabling : This means things like working on shared libraries, contributing to open‑source content, defining, documenting and evolving best practices for development in their team’s area of focus
