South Island - Canterbury – Christchurch, South Island

  • 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) - Permanent Position
  • 0.1 Cardiac Inherited Disease Group (CIDG) fixed term 2 years.
  • Total 0.7 FTE
  • Based in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories

As our new Clinical Nurse Specialist for Electrophysiology, you'll play a key role in shaping high‑quality patient care in one of New Zealand's leading cardiac centres. We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist 'Electrophysiology (EP)' to join our Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories. This advanced nursing role provides expert clinical care and leadership in the management of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders.

Reporting day to day to the Charge Nurse Manager, Cath Labs, with professional oversight from the Medical Nursing Director, you will integrate direct clinical care, professional leadership, education, and service development to support safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based practice within our tertiary academic setting.

Working collaboratively with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, nurses, allied health professionals, and community providers, you will help deliver a coordinated, person‑centred EP pathway from diagnosis through procedures and follow‑up.

About You

You are an expert practitioner with advanced clinical skills, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for improving outcomes for people with cardiac rhythm disorders. You role‑model high standards of practice and bring confidence, collaboration, and clinical leadership to your work.

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate.
  • Relevant graduate and postgraduate nursing qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant specialty or senior nursing role.
  • Advanced nursing skills at senior nurse or expert PDRP level.
  • Proven leadership capability, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates high‑quality consumer‑ and whānau‑centred practice and acts as an effective clinical role model.
  • Innovative, proactive, and committed to quality improvement and ongoing professional development.
  • Skills & Experience (desired)

  • Working towards or holding a relevant Clinical Master’s degree.
  • Experience developing nursing standards or quality initiatives.
  • Research involvement that has informed or advanced nursing practice.
  • Working at Health New Zealand
