Saint Kentigern College is seeking an experienced and motivated Athletic Development Coach to join our high-performing Sports Department. This is an exciting full‑time opportunity to contribute to one of New Zealand’s leading school sport programmes and positively impact the development of student athletes from Years 7–13.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Athletic Development, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality strength and conditioning programmes to students, staff, and alumni. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of age‑appropriate athletic development sessions, support injury‑prevention initiatives, and help maintain a safe, professional, and engaging training environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured strength and conditioning programmes across multiple sporting codes
- Lead training sessions for allocated teams and sport development classes
- Monitor athlete loads and contribute to injury‑prevention strategies
- Support testing, periodisation planning, and performance monitoring
- Educate students, staff, and coaches in athletic development and best practice
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and gym supervision
About You
A degree in Sport & Exercise Science or related field (or working toward one)Strength & Conditioning accreditation (ASCA Level 1 or similar, or working toward it)Experience delivering S&C programmes in youth or high‑performance environmentsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationshipsExcellent communication, organisation, and a passion for athlete developmentA commitment to student wellbeing and safe training practicesQualifications in either sports nutrition or sports psychology would be advantageousWhat We Offer
